It has been such a long time since I blogged last. I took some time off for goodness, I cannot believe, 20 months. It was unintentional, but needed. Focusing on the family was very important.

Now, to move on to what this blog is about.

I read an article this morning that I felt like I should weigh in on. It was called Dear Stay-At-Home Moms, Shut The Eff Up. I read the title and I have to say, I as very offended.

"How dare she?" I actually said out loud.
"Yet another mom not having another mom's back." I said in my head.
"Why can't other moms support each other's choices in life?" I questioned.

Then I read the article fully.

Time for this week's installment of Christie's Easy Peasy Weekly Recipes!

 Sweet & Saucy Brussel Sprouts

 

Ingredients:

 

 

1 Package of Frozen Brussel Sprouts (estimated: a little less than a pound of fresh)

1 Medium Chopped Sweet Onion

1 tsp. Olive Oil
1 1/2 cups Maple Syrup
2 tsp. Brown Sugar
2 Garlic Cloves Minced

Salt and Pepper to taste

This morning after nearly a week of having an unidentifiable, yet pleasant smell present in my Ford Freestar Mini Van, I decided to bite the bullet and try to find this smell even though honestly, it did actually make the van smell nicer than normal…bad, I know…

So, after dropping off the kids at school, making sure my oldest had a refill on his daily medication needed at school and visiting two school offices to change the number of my cellphone in the records…I pull into my driveway at home, turned up K-LOVE the station I LOVE LOVE LOVE and got to work.

Phew! I'm back! Well, it has been such a busy holiday season for us here in our home. So many family and school functions there was one entire week I didn't come home until after I picked up all the children from school because I was at one school or another every single day. I now look forward to getting back into the swing of things and blogging more. I am pretty excited because of the potential.

Time for this week's installment of Christie's Easy Peasy Weekly Recipes!


 

 

 

 

 

Ingredients:

 

 

Whole Chicken Fryers 

Veggies: Sweet Onions, Frozen Baby Carrots (so they don't get too mushy, Potatoes and 1 inch chopped Celery

Chicken Seasoning of Choice (we used Monterey Chicken on one and the other just a generic chicken seasoning)

Olive Oil

Salt and Pepper to taste 

Preheat oven at 375 degrees. Quarter the 2 onions and place at the bottom of the pan.

Like my previous post says, I am addicted to window shopping at Etsy. I have on occasion purchased, but I tell you, daily I'm on the site...I just cannot help myself. There is a plethora of neat handmade products on the site that truly keep me in awe. Because of this addiction, I thought I would share my finds... I think it will be a fun addition to my blog.

Because I am ABSOLUTELY OBSESSED with Etsy.com. Starting tomorrow I am going to start something called "Etsy Friday Favorites" and weekly post my finds that I just LOVE. I mostly window shop, well...because I cannot afford to buy EVERYTHING I love on there... But, I thought it would be fun. You can respond to my posts and if there are any Esty things you find that you JUST HAVE TO share... you can do that too.  I especially like the idea of supporting other mom's who put love into every piece they make by hand on Etsy... I am really excited about it!

Funny Story

My kids truly crack me up here is the newest Funny Story!

 

So, this morning we are all getting ready for school. Braden my 5 yr old Kindergartner was laying on the couch, he didn't want to eat breakfast and said his belly hurt. Well, after asking what was going on/wrong he says this "I don't want to go to school because the kids in my class are going to think I'm not complete."

 

 Oh Lordy Me!!!! He is the oldest child in his class and the first in his class to loose THE first tooth...He didn't want to be the odd man out.

 

Needless to say, he went to school....lol
